Letter from the President

After a year-and-half hiatus, the HCP newsletter is finally back. I am proud to announce Gary Richard has joined our board as our new Newsletter Editor. Gary has many new ideas for how to make The Hudson Champlain newsletter a standout among region newsletters but he would like your help. Whether submitting story ideas, helping to write articles or taking photos, please lend a hand. An interesting, informative, timely and dynamic newsletter benefits us all.

Our club continues to grow and evolve. We average about 5 new members a month. The club is here for you. The more you get involved the more you can benefit. Come try Autocross or one or our Driver Education on track events to see what your car is really capable of in a safe and controlled environment. Enjoy a monthly dinner out at our monthly dinner meetings. Explore our region on one of our monthly Drive & Dines to interesting venues taking country road less traveled and enjoying your car. Learn more about your car a tech session or kick back and get to know other Hudson Champlain Region members at one of our many social events or annual Weekend Get-a-Way.

Speaking of which this year’s Fall Weekend Get-a-Way will be to the Historic seaside village of Mystic Ct. Join us October 23, 24 and 25th. For a fun time together as we explore Mystic Seaport, The Mystic Aquarium and the Nuclear Submarine Nautilus, the first submarine to cross under the North Pole. Read all about the trip later in this newsletter.

Finally, I want to tell you about the HCP board elections to be held later this year. As you may be aware our Region is governed by our bylaws (which can be found on the region’s website), and run by an executive board, consisting of a President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer and Past-President. These positions are elected by a vote of the membership to serve 2-year terms.

The Executive Board is assisted by a board of directors consisting of the club’s committee chairpersons. The following committee chair positions are voting positions on the board: Activities, Autocross, Historical, Membership, Newsletter, Safety, Track, and Webmaster. There is also one non-voting Committee Chair position – Charity. Committee Chairperson positions are appointed to 2-year terms by a vote of the Executive Board.

The Executive Board has appointed a Nominating Committee: (Bruce Toothaker, chairman, and committee members: Frank Paturzo, George Earle, and Brett Devine). This committee will be in charge of conducting this year’s elections.

The club is currently soliciting nominations for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. (self-nominations are also gladly accepted and encouraged).

The full membership will be asked to vote for 2016/2017 Executive Board members, based on nominees put forward and vetted by the Nominating Committee. This fall all active primary members will be mailed a ballot containing the names and bios of all nominated candidates.
